Growing vines in the Ukraine

“This is just what we needed,” said a pastor at a workshop for local church leaders in Lutsk, Ukraine. “For the past year we have been struggling through what the vision for our church is. Now I see that God had given us his vision for the cosmos.”

In May, Sean Martin from Leadership Resources International, lead a workshop that brought together ideas from The Trellis and the Vine and The Vine Project.

After studying Ephesians 1, Colossians 1, and Matthew 28, the group discussed the blockages produced by church culture and personal culture.

Sean said, “The group had a loving, honest evaluation of their church and their leadership right in from of me after we looked at Ephesians 1 and discussed God’s plan for the world and how we serve it with our tactics.”

The pastors found it enormously helpful.

One said, “Now we need to prayerfully think through how we will serve his vision in our church. Our team will have a follow-up meeting to have an evaluation together and to think about and implement the next steps. Also, the idea of a 121 with a nonbeliever is radical to us. It is not done in our culture. How are we going to do it? God knows.”

In Ukraine, Evangelicals make up about 1 per cent of the population. Please pray for our brothers and sisters as they seek to help their congregations make disciples in this place.
