Irene Zerbini came to Canada from her native Italy to be with her Argentinean husband who was raised in Toronto. A journalist by profession, she looks at her immigrant life with a journalist's critical eyes while working and raising her family in the city.

Journalist Irene Zerbini was born in Italy and moved to Canada in 2009 to be with her Canadian husband. Irene recalls an early experience, when she got a ticket for not wearing a seat belt, despite moving the car a short distance while pregnant and having difficulty in putting on the seat belt. Another funny occasion was when she got a ticket for putting her household garbage in a public garbage can in a local park. She felt a little overwhelmed by the new and different rules. In Canadian society, Irene believes personal creativity could be compromised by too many rules, though she recognizes the comforting appeal of rules to some.
