There was once a servant who had to deal with a very disagreeable master.

One day, the master came home in a bad mood. When he sat down at the table to eat, he found the soup too cold for his liking, so he picked up the plate and threw it out the window.

The servant had an idea. He picked up the main dish that he had just placed on the table and threw it out the window after the soup. Next, he threw out the bread, then the wine, and finally the tablecloth.

"What are you doing, fool?" cried the master, rising furiously from his seat.

"Pardon me, sir," answered the servant in a serious voice. "I think I have misunderstood your intention. I thought perhaps you wanted to eat today outside in the courtyard. After all, the air is so mild! The sky is so serene! Look, sir, at the apple tree so beautifully in flower! And with what pleasure the bees are sipping from it!"

The master recognized his mistake. He resolved to change for the better, and in his mind he thanked the servant for the lesson he had given him.
